If so, why not show off your skills at an open mic event?
I was looking around for some upcoming shows in Baltimore and D.C. when I stumbled upon a convenient little website named Maryland Party that lists all kinds of events, shows, drink specials and all that fun stuff happening at Maryland bars and restaurants.
What I found really cool about this website is that it has a specific section that only lists open mic events going on at smaller venues in the area. The list is constantly updated and currently has open mic nights that date as far from now as June.
Obviously, it’s tough for up-and-coming musicians or bands to find a venue to put themselves out there and make a name for themselves. That’s why performing at open mic events at local grilles and pubs is a great, not to mention simple, way to test your skills.
So for those of you brave enough to play in front of a live audience, check out the list and contact the places you’d want to perform at. Who knows, maybe it’ll be the first baby step to your big break.
