Local bands highlight benefit for Haiti

A couple of D.C. bands are playing a show at the night club Black Cat this coming Wednesday the 24th at 8 p.m. All proceeds from the show will be benefiting Doctors Without Borders who are tirelessly working to rebuild lives in Haiti after that devastating earthquake hit over a month ago.

This event was originally scheduled for Feb. 6 (hence the wrong date in the above graphic) but was postponed due to the blizzard that struck the area a few weeks back. I’m sure this wasn’t the only concert that annoying blizzard ruined that weekend.

Anyway, the band that will be headlining the show will be Tennis System along with bands The State Department, Nunchucks and Honey House, all of which, as I previously mentioned, are based in D.C. They all play some form of rock which includes post punk, indie, big beat and ghettotech so if you go your ears will definitely thank you for it. If you don’t believe me, go to their MySpace pages and check out some of their songs.

Tennis System has a reputation for playing their live shows really really loudly so if you’re attending remember to bring some earplugs. And if you forget, who cares about a couple shattered ear drums? It’s for a good cause.
